In their own words…

Where are you from?
I’m based in Seattle, Washington, where I live with my fiance and our two cats. I was raised in Bethesda, Maryland, and spent much of my career in Orlando, Florida.

Do you have a favorite chart type?
I love a classic line chart. Time is such a powerful dimension, and most of us think of stories in linear order, or at least remember the beginning, middle, and end of a story. There’s no better way to carve a history or project the future, in my humble opinion.

What inspired your interest in visualization?
As an aspiring chef, I found that I could drive more impact to restaurants by analyzing their data than I could in the kitchen. After over a decade of consulting and advising restaurants, theme parks, and retail brands, I’m still learning about new visualizations and approaches all the time.

How do you spend your time outside of work?
I am a foodie and a game nerd! My background is in restaurants, so I love cooking, food science, and baking. When I’m not in the kitchen, you’ll find me playing a tabletop roleplaying game, board game, or video game with my nerdiest friends.
