Deadline to apply to the SWD Reach program is June 30th!
Our mission at SWD is to inspire positive change through the stories we help others tell with their data.
We believe that everyone can turn data into pictures and apply straightforward tips to make their information understandable and have great impact. We strive to make our lessons accessible and reach as wide an audience as possible through resources like the blog, community, podcast, and videos.
We are excited and proud to announce an expansion of this popular program, which brings dedicated instruction to organizations where budgets may be constrained.
SWD Reach is an application-based program for US-based non-profits, educational institutions, and other organizations. The goal is to share SWD lessons with those for whom resources are limited, which makes the importance of having every communication count that much more critical. SWD data storytellers will offer instruction and insights that will enhance data visualization and storytelling skills.
WHEN CAN I APPLY? The application window is currently open through June 30, 2026. We will select organizations and booking based on availability.
PROGRAM DETAILS
COST: $5,000 USD + travel expenses
WHO SHOULD APPLY: US-based non-profits, educational institutions, and other organizations with limited resources that want to develop a culture of best practices related to telling stories with data along with hands-on training.
OVERALL TIMELINE: Not every organization will be selected for the Reach program. Chosen organizations will be notified in June or July and we will work with you to schedule sessions at a mutually agreed date (workshop to take place by September 30, 2026).
HOW ORGANIZATIONS WILL BE SELECTED: Emphasis will be placed largely on the narratives provided in the online application. We are most interested in those that have detailed their needs for better data storytelling and demonstrated a thoughtful approach to how lessons will be applied after the session.
WORKSHOP SPECIFICS: The SWD reach half-day workshop is an in-person 4-hour session, including a short break. Awarded organizations will host the workshop at their location and provide a meeting space comfortable for participants with a projector/screen.
EXPECTATIONS OF SELECTED ORGANIZATIONS: This program is best for organizations seeking to actively apply the lessons taught in the workshop and are committed to sharing these learnings broadly. We will hold a virtual post-workshop review meeting 4-6 weeks after the session to further foster and support data storytelling learnings and integration into daily work.
